Blue Light Acne Treatment – A Last Resort Acne Cure?

Since acne vulgaris is the most current skin disorder, have you ever considered blue light acne treatment? Although not life-threatening, acne can be detrimental to teenaged and adult skin and can destroy the self-confidence of the acne victim.

Acne is very common, so it is obvious that there are various acne cure treatment methods on the market. If you did not know this, there is a new breed of cosmetic dermatologists, that offers an expert acne treatment, promising to remove both acne and the resultant scars.

It is known as photodynamic therapy or blue light acne treatment. An acne patient lies or sits down in front of a special light for roughly 15 to 30 minutes, every week for three to eight weeks straight, until the acne is removed. It works by focusing a blue light-wave which zaps bacteria known to cause acne.

During the acne light treatment a topical lotion – Levulan – is sometimes used. Although this lotion makes your skin go pink and then crust, it really helps fight acne and any acne scars. Photodynamic therapy is nothing new (it has been around for over 30 years). But only of late has it been introduced as a treatment for acne.

Benefits of Blue Light Acne Treatment

Blue light acne treatment is still rather new and the long-term side-effects are unknown. But, there are lots of immediate advantages to this form of skin therapy.

The first is that patients can prefer a blue light acne treatment clinic against other therapies which have known side effects. Antibiotics are commonly set to control acne but long-term use can cause patients to become resistant to antibiotics in general, placing them at risk of infection. Accutane is another acne medication which can cause serious depression, suicidal ideation, and birth defects. Women of child-bearing age using Accutane must have monthly pregnancy tests.

A second benefit of blue light acne treatment is that patients don’t have to see to the day by day hassle of remembering to take medications or use topical lotions.

Number three – it is also a great option for people who have had no luck with another acne cure treatment. So if your body struggles with acne lotions or medications, you have more options available.

A fourth pro is that home blue and red acne light treatment kits have been created. For an affordable cost, acne patients can treat acne in their own homes. It is unknown whether these home-based kits are as successful as clinical blue light treatment and they are without doubt not as potent.

If blue light acne treatment is something that you cannot afford employing, then it is best to go for a low-cost, natural cure for acne with a small amount of side-effects.
