Electric Griddle or Stovetop griddle?

Griddles are great cooking tools and are very useful. You will find lots of great uses for them, but hopefully none besides cooking. Let me repeat, I don’t believe there is any reason to use a griddle for anything but cooking.

What great foods can you use a griddle to cook? All sorts of food from pancakes or eggs for breakfast, grilled cheese for, lunch or burgers, chicken, or veggies for dinner. There are many more great and delicious foods you can cook on a griddle.

You can use two different kinds of griddles at home. You could use a simple griddle that you place on the stove-top and use the stove heat to cook, or you could use an electric griddle that you plug in and keep it on the counter while you cook.

Is the electric griddle better than the stove-top griddle or is the the other way around? One is not better than the other, necessarily. For you, the electric griddle may be clearly a better choice, but the stove-top griddle might work much better for the next person.

The stove-top griddle is ideal for someone who lives alone or with one other person. It can be used right on top of the griddle which makes it very convenient. It will also save you counter space if you have a small kitchen.

Do you live alone and not cook much? You could save even more stove space and cabinet space if you get a round griddle pan. You can use it on the stove just like a griddle but it is smaller. It is like a skillet but without a lip around the edge.

An electric griddle is great for big families. If you have more counter space but need the stove to cook other stuff, an electric griddle utilizes the counter space freeing up more burners. You can plug it in away from the stove.

You don’t need to worry about what the “right” griddle type is because the right one for you is not universally right. Just make sure you think about what you need and you buy according to your needs and wants.
